Here at WishLantern.com we love to use our lanterns as often as possible, but we also love to see that other people in the community love them as much as we do and want to use them to teach the youth about science.
We’ve recently had a few requests from teachers at local schools ask about whether they could get their hands on some wish lanterns to use in a science class to teach their students about the power of heat.
Of course we’ve sent some over to them, who are we to stand in the way of education. We were more than happy to donate wish lanterns in the name of science!
The teachers are going to light the lanterns for the children of course, (we do not advocate children under 12 lighting the lanterns or using them unsupervised) then will give the lanterns to the children to hold until the lanterns have filled up with enough hot air to float away by themselves.
Theories of gravity, the power of heat and the mechanics of how it all works will be explained to the students during the launch. It’s also an activity that will be really fun for the students as well as educational. You never know, wish lanterns may become part of the schools science program yet!
