Everyone loves a good excuse for a party, whether it’s a celebration, house warming, birthday, you can always rely on your friends to come round and have a few drinks no matter what the occasion. This year, the staff at Wishlantern.com are holding a Chinese Lantern party, this is something we’ve done before and it’s always heaps of fun and we can get lots of great photos for the website at the same time, so we can kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

Each invited guest has to bring a Chinese Lantern with them along with a plate of food in an Asian theme, so it might be spring rolls, fried rice or lemon chicken. The dress code is also themed Asian so the whole party has a wonderful vibe about it and makes people more comfortable in striking up conversations with other guests who they may not know to well. A common conversation starter is the choice of costume.

Once all the guests are together with their Chinese Lanterns everyone gathers outside and the lanterns are lit at the same time and everyone is encouraged to release their lanterns together up into the sky.

This is when the photos are taken as the most beautiful moments are created in the sky when the lantern gracefully float away. If you hold your Chinese Lantern party during the day you may wish to use coloured lanterns as they photograph well in the light.
